3 Reasons NOT to Rush Your Home Renovation Project
Posted on: 2013-05-15
Everyone is in a hurry these days. If you’re looking for the answer to a question, you can punch it into Google and have an answer within seconds. Some fast food places boast about their quick serving speeds. There are even competitions to see who can send the most text messages in a short amount of time. But one thing that you cannot rush is a home renovation project.
You may get tired of being surrounded by construction dust and debris, frustrated with not feeling comfortable in your own home, or upset that your life has seemingly been interrupted for a period of time. However, all of these things are worth putting up with in order to your home to be renovated properly.
Rushing your renovation can lead to one (or more) of these three things:
1. Things May End up Getting Installed Incorrectly.
When people rush, they make mistakes. This can result in pipes not being fitted properly, drywall being cut the wrong lengths and even new walls not being correctly anchored to the ceiling and floor. You don’t want any of these to happen, which is why you need to give your contractor enough time to get the job done right.
2. You May Not End Up With Your Dream Items
Here’s an example, if you want your kitchen remodeled and your plans include a specific brand and style of refrigerator, which just happens to be on back order, you can either wait for it, or accept a different one. By rushing things and ending up with the latter choice, you may never be happy with your new kitchen, whereas if you had just waited a few extra days (or weeks, depending) your dream kitchen would exist.
3. You Will Pay More Money for Your Renovation
Renovating a house quickly requires more workers. This will drive up the cost for the contractor, who will then pass those extra expenses on to you. In the end, you may end up paying double what it would have cost to get your renovation done in a standard amount of time.
